Super Fleischer Bros Classic by DairyKing Super Fleischer Bros Classic by DairyKing
I thought it would be neat to do both a color version and a black and white version.
This is obviously the black and white version.
I chose to use a screen shot from SM64 to sort of replicate the old background style that the Fleischer Brothers cartoons used, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

This is beautiful. A marvelous mixture that could almost be called a tribute of sorts-

I loved the sets that the Fleischers used for earlier Popeye cartoons (with King of the 'Mardis Grais' and 'Popeye Meets Sinbad' as my personal favorites), the way you incorporated Peach's castle does the job beautifully and the way you drew Mario and Wario just screams there's going to be a fight- just how I like it.

All I know is that Wario's screwed once that mushroom starts coming out...

Yup! Oh, interesting fact, did you know that Donkey Kong, the arcade game, was created because Mr. Miyamoto wanted to work on a Popeye game, but couldn't because he lost the rights to it? So instead of a game starring Popeye, Nintendo made an iconic arcade game staring Mario, DK, and Pauline; with them replacing Popeye, Bluto, and Olive respectively. Of course, an official Popeye game was released for the NES later on. So I find this very fitting since our red-clad plumber originated from our beloved spinach-eating sailor!

Yeah, I remember that. I also heard that Universal tried to sue Nintendo for copyright infringment (since they used Kong in DK's name, which they belive to have ripped off of King Kong), but the court ruled in favor of Nintendo, so as result, a star (a big, hairy, tie-wearing one, at that) was born.

Pretty funny to see how Mario and DK got their start and had something of a rivalry going on until a few years ago, even after a few incidents (like the Mini-Mario toy thefts ).

Yes, that's true! ^_^ I've downloaded GB Donkey Kong for my 3DS and I'm getting pretty far in it, too. Here's to looking forward to the next Donkey Kong game soon, hopefully next year!

I loved that one. Especially the little skits after you beat him at the end of the worlds.

I wouldn't say no to more DK if it comes down the line. :)

Yeah! I like to see either a DKCR 2 for the Wii U or Donkey Kong Land Returns for the 3DS, since the original 'Land' games started on the Game Boy, so it would be fitting for that to happen. In fact, I read that Camelot, creators of Mario Golf and Tennis, are interested about working on the DK series, even stating that they would love to make a sequel to DK64. Hmmm, a sequel to DK64, huh? It's been very long since we've seen a proper 3D DK game. If that's the case, then give us some open-world levels with some Galaxy-esque progression; all 5 playable Kongs from the last one, and maybe throw in some new ones like Dixie; cut down on the tedious collect-a-thon gameplay from the first one; throw in some fresh ideas, including some Animal Buddies; all of that and we're golden, Camelot! :)

OH, I'd love that. Last I heard, despite Microsoft's onwership of Rare, Nintendo's still holding on to the games they've made. If they put DK64 on the virutal console, that would sell like banana hotcakes.

I remember the irony that you had to beat the origingal Donkey Kong to get the last coin to free K.Lumsy from his cage. :)

Yes, I can see that. :) Good thing that I have the original cartridge for my N64! With game developers such as Next Level Games working on Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, and RETRO Studios that did DKCR, anything is ALMOST possible these days.
